For centuries  these beautiful stones  have been valued & used by many cultures for  their beauty, use in Sacred practices and ascribed healing properties.

It’s often confusing to “understand” the  differences between crystals, gemstones, precious and semi precious stones and minerals. In some ways it doesn’t really matter – just choose what you resonate with!

For those of you who would like to know how the ‘experts” (whoever they are??) define the different types, we put together some information & even a link to an official video.

Crystal definition
A piece of homogeneous solid substance having a natural geometrically regular form with symmetrically arranged plane faces, eg ”a quartz crystal”.

Gemstone definition
A Gemstone that has been cut and polished is called a Gem, or Jewel. Many types of Gemstones belong to groups or species which share a common crystal structure and chemical composition. Some of the most important Gemstone species include beryl, corundum, garnet, quartz, and tourmaline.

Precious & Semi-Precious Stone definition
There are only four Precious Stones: diamond, ruby, emerald, and sapphire. All other Gemstones are considered to be Semi-Precious. However, gemologists suggest using this classification carefully as nowadays as some consider it a bit outdated.

Mineral definition
A mineral is a naturally occurring inorganic solid, with a definite chemical composition, and an ordered atomic arrangement. This may seem a bit of a mouthful, but if you break it down it becomes simpler. Minerals are naturally occurring. They are not made by humans. Minerals are inorganic.

The “energy” of  Gemstones and Crystals

It is known that Nikola Tesla (Serbian-American engineer and physicist (1856-1943) who made dozens of breakthroughs in the production, transmission and application of electric power): was convinced that Crystals had their own form of consciousness, since they emit their own unique vibration and frequency. Tesla once said: “In a Crystal we have clear evidence of the existence of a formative life principle, and though we cannot understand the life of a crystal, it is nonetheless a living being.”
Dolores Cannon (hypnotherapist specializing in past life regression spanned almost 50 years) has done past life regressions on many people who experience remembering past lives as rocks and crystals.
