Honesty as our Guide

The Unveiling Power of Honesty – A Path to Clarity and Connection

“Honesty is the cornerstone of all virtues” Aristotle

Honesty is often perceived superficially as truthfulness in words. However if fully embraced, honesty becomes a powerful spiritual guide, illuminating our innate inner awareness & bringing us into radical alignment with the universal flow of All-that-Is, fostering clarity, presence & peace.

The initial level of honesty involves speaking truth to others, a foundational act of integrity. Yet, as Natalie Glebova’s Temple of Love* suggests, true love and self-discovery emerge from a deeper honesty within. Her narrative of healing and manifestation through holistic practices underscores that our external reality often mirrors our internal truth. To truly manifest, one must be honest about their desires, fears, and emotional wounds, allowing for genuine healing to occur. This self-honesty is the first step towards unlocking our true potential.

Gabrielle Bernstein’s book Self Help*, guides us further into this inner realm. Drawing on Internal Family Systems Therapy, she champions the practice of radical self-honesty – acknowledging and integrating the various “parts” of ourselves, including those we might deem undesirable or wish to suppress. This courageous self-acceptance, born from honest introspection, is crucial for healing past wounds and embracing our authentic self. In this vein, Charlie Claire Burgess’s Queer Devotion* further emphasizes the spiritual imperative of honesty by exploring how embracing one’s true identity, particularly queer identities, is a sacred act of honoring one’s own divinity and cultivating an affirming spiritual practice. Without this internal honesty, we remain fragmented, unable to experience true inner peace or genuine connection.

Abiola Abrams’ Divine Frequency* elevates this understanding further. Honesty, in her view, isn’t just about what we say or think, but about the vibrational truth we embody. To “fine-tune your energy” and “align with your desires,” one must be brutally honest about their current energetic state and whether it truly resonates with their aspirations. This involves an honest assessment of our beliefs, intentions, and actions, ensuring they are in harmony with the Universal Laws she describes. When our inner and outer worlds align through this energetic honesty, manifestation becomes effortless.

Perhaps the most profound understanding of honesty comes from Dr. David R. Hawkins, whose life and work are chronicled in Susan Hawkins’ The Man Who Mapped Consciousness*. Dr. Hawkins’ Consciousness Map places integrity and truthfulness at high levels of consciousness, where the energy field is expansive and aligned with power, not force. For Hawkins, true honesty is a state of being, a complete surrender to truth that transcends personal ego and leads to profound inner peace. Living in this state of truth allows one to experience the inherent perfection and interconnectedness of existence.
When we make a deep commitment to be fully honest —from candid communication to radical self-acceptance, energetic alignment, and a profound surrender to truth—the veil of illusion is stripped away, and we experience the inherent clarity of our Being, presence & real connectedness with the Is-ness of Life.
